My wife is a midwife. Can confirm that this is not only common, it’s actually one of the better case scenarios. 😞

What is a midwife?

A midwife is a healthcare provider that specializes in pregnancy and birth both in and out of a hospital setting. The key difference between a midwife and OB/GYN is that midwives provide healthcare throughout low-risk pregnancies and handle births at home, in a birth center, and in a hospital, while OBs generally handle high-risk births involving medical intervention.

Midwife is a really bad term for that lol. I was trying to peice together what a mid wife was. I can't say I've heard that term before.

It comes from German and literally translates to “with woman,” so I would say it’s an apt term.
