It baffles me that this isn’t the norm and I can’t imagine doing anything less for my partner when the time comes

It absolutely is the norm, some people just like to pretend like it isn't so they can feel better about themselves for doing the bare minimum

I'm trying to to find surveys. The only one I can was done in Britain in 2014 stating that 95% of fathers are in the delivery room at birth.
