My female dog only does the deep crotch sniff on me on those weeks. And sometimes she does it to other women but I haven't worked up the courage to ask, but I'm fairly certain.

I hated dogs for that when I was a teenager. I know I'm on my period but no need to announce it to the world ! As an adult I just say "yeah doggy, I know, I'm on my period". I feel more comfortable with people knowing rather than wondering whatever their imagination come up with or feel embarrassed by their dogs behavior.

Not just bears. We took the kids to a petting zoo when my wife was on her period. Bad idea. She was very popular with all the male animals.
