Black bears (at least Florida Black Bears) usually don't want anything to do with people. They are easily scared off (by making loud noise and making yourself look bigger), and they can smell you before you'd ever know they're there. So they will likely avoid you unless something else is going on (like you left out barbecue food).

Also, they eat about 80% plants, 15% insects, and 5% meat (small animals or scavenging on already dead animals). Obviously, they could still really hurt someone, which is why you should know what to do if you encounter one.

It is also important to know their warning signs of aggression, like them thumping their paws on the ground.

Oh I didn’t know that, I was just surprised they had black bears there.

This one doesn't look like it's easily scared off. It's way too unafraid of people.

The next black bear encounter is going to Google this comment and still not know what to do.

Yeah, I'm sure bears are required to be as strong and as fast as they are to deal with those super dangerous plants that consist of 80% of their diet.

Don't even get me started with elephants...

😂 Well, they do have to be quite strong to climb trees like they do, and they are very fast.

Florida Black Bears can run 30 MPH if I remember right.

I only know about Florida Black Bears.

More fun facts. There are more species of plants that will kill you than there are species of mushrooms that will kill you. Don't eat plants or mushrooms you don't know, in short.

I’m guessing she used a delicious smelling hair product or lotion. Usually just yelling at black bears will scare them off.
