no way they let you be there during a c section. that's a surgery

I was present and in the room standing by her head for all 3 of my kids births. All C sections. Took pictures on the last one. When babies were born I went to them, did the cord cutting, then back to mom.

is that safe? being there in your normal clothes during a surgery

I would assume it’s very safe, or they wouldn’t let you be there. You’re not wearing the clothes you just mowed the lawn in, and you’re also not participating in the surgery. They give you gowns and other stuff to wear while in there.

The spouse scrubs in. It’s the norm for non-emergency c-sections. Keep in mind, the patient is awake for the surgery. You can bet I needed my ex wife when I was watching myself be cut open in the reflection of the ceiling lamp lol.

My wife had an last minute C-section (cord wrapped around baby's neck) and I was sanitized and put in scrubs to be there for the surgery.

My wife is also a surgeon and they let her watch her own surgery live via the camera as well.

My doctor just had me fill out an initial birth plan and one of the questions was if I want a birthing partner in the OR if I have to have a c-section. The limitation is I can have my doula and husband in the birthing room, but for c-section, I can only have one person (who will be my husband unless he tells me he can’t do it — he has pretty bad medical phobia so we’re playing it by ear).
